Page 1: Introduction

In ten years, it has never rained on a Dry Dredgers field trip. This time, the record was broken. But the rain was just a drizzle on and off and didn't prevent people from collecting fossils. Attendance was about 20 people, down slightly due to the weather.

The site is a road cut near I-275 in Northern Kentucky. We last visited this site in 2002. There were plenty of freshly exposed fossils. The site, which exposes the Southgate member of the Kope/Edenian Latonia Formation, has been productive for great fossils for decades, like crinoids, rare trilobites and seastars. There are always great finds on trips to this site.

As you can see from these pictures, a little rain didn't stop these Dry Dredgers.

These Dry Dredgers are grinning ear-to-ear because, just seconds ago, they have found what they came for.
