Page 6: The Prize for the Most Unusual Fossil
Jan Barton did a great job having these plaques made. Here's a closeup of one.
There were also plaques awarded for the most unusual fossil finds.
The winner in this category had found a beautiful, perfect specimen of the inarticulate brachiopod, Trematis millipunctata! (shown below)
Second place went to a young woman who found a different inarticulate brachiopod, Petrocrania scabiosa, in a cluster of four! ( Click HERE for a picture of the winning specimen (compliments of Cindy S.) The winner is pictured below. Congratulations!
One of the Dry Dredgers members found a beautiful Edrioasteroid on this trip and donated it as a prize. Here it is..
Members also brought displays of fossils to help illustrate what you can find
while fossil collecting. Also included in the picture below is a really nice
diarama of Serpent Mound.
Well, everyone had a great time and the Dry Dredgers thank all who participated. Hank and Laura Barton live on in this annual memorial event. Next year, "Search for Noids, Pods and Zoas" will be on Saturday, June 12, 2004. BE SURE AND MARK YOUR CALENDARS. See you there!
